Michaela is a brave and resilient young girl who was diagnosed with leukemia. Michaela has completed all cycles of intensive chemotherapy and is now in the maintenance phase of treatment. Michaela takes daily oral chemotherapy at home and undergoes spinal chemo every 12 weeks, at times requiring travel to receive additional care.
The first nine months of treatment were filled with many challenges, including frequent hospitalizations due to low blood counts and complications such as asthma, neuropathy, and chronic ear infections. Through it all, Michaela continues to face each day with strength and grace.
She is surrounded by the constant love and support of her siblings and devoted mother, and receives her care at TRF partner hospital, Nemours Children’s Orlando. Michaela has a deep love for music—especially country artist Kane Brown—and was recently awarded a TRF Family Fun Grant to celebrate her birthday by attending his concert in Jacksonville.
Her journey is a powerful reminder of courage, hope, and healing as she navigates and is one step closer to finishing treatment.
